Beijing: Rogers-Dalhausser lose opening match

by Unknown at 6:56 AM

Things are already getting shaken up in Beijing. The best beach volleyball team in the world lost their opening match of the Olympics today to a low-ranked Latvian team in pool play today.

American beach volleyball players Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser, 2007 world champions and clear gold medal contenders, were beaten by Samoilovs/Plavins in just two sets, 21-19, 21-18.

Was it nerves? Smog? Did they eat the "chicken"? In any case, it's a stunning start for the men. How it affects the confidence of the other American men's team will remain to be seen.
